| Alstott almost ended his career after sustaining a neck injury. I agree with Matty, give the ball to Betts; he is very quick (not necessarily fast), has good vision, and runs with power. |

| I agree about giving the ball to Betts. The Problem is WE DONT GIVE IT TO HIM. He is our short yardage back, and our change of pace back all in one package. I dont think he has scored a TD yet this year, or even being used on the goal-line. Thats why I would get so pissed. If were going to run it up the middle, give it to Betts, when we did that with Portis I was like " either run him outside or get Betts in there". I think Betts will be fine.

| Problem is Betts can't make the short yardage runs either! We need a bruiser who like taking on DL and someone that can push them a yard or 2. Alstott can still do that. If Bettis can do it Alstott still can.

| The problem isn't entirely with the backs. The line has been pretty inconsistent at opening up holes all year. |

| Matty: I have the scoop on Sultan's whereabouts. He is working out with that other pre-season wonder, Babe Laufenburg, and they hope to sign as a tandem for a team that wants to generate momentun in the pre-season in order to get a fast start next year. Alstott is "all done". If he's a free agent, don't give him a big bonus or you will wear it like an albatross around your neck. As an example of what I mean by that see Brunell, Mark. Rock Cartwright was not used in short yardage because when he was used that way last year he got stoned for no gain or lost a yard as many time as he gained six inches. Here is an algabraic equation for you to remember about Rock: Cartwright = Special Teams Player You'll probaby see him against the second teamers of one of the worst defenses in the NFL this weekend. So when he gains 60 or 70 yards, remember that he was not running against a top flight defense. MIke Sellers used to be able to hit a hole quickly. Watch him when he leads for a running play from the H-Back position; those days are gone.
