I don't think Rex is terrible overall as an NFL QB, but at this point I don't think he's starting material either. He's where he needs to be, now. Holding a clipboard. Hey, it could be worse. He can spend the next 5 or 6 years chilling on an NFL sideline making in the neighborhood of $1M/season.
That is exactly the way I thought after watching even the early season victories this year with rex. Its like you read my mind. Nothing has changed whenit comes to rex grossman, a tiger cant change his stripes.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

This is a pretty good break down of Grossman's 5 INT's prior to the Eagles game. I really wish someone would do the Eagles game as well, but at this point the pitch fork mob doesn't care I'm sure. But out of the 5 previous INT's they can only blame Grossman for 1

It's been coming, the Rex Grossman breakdown. Part 1 - A look at all 5 Interceptions. - Hogs Haven

So overall we have 5 INTs. 2 of which weren't in anyway Rex's fault. 1 was a great play from the mike LB, 1 was an off-balanced throw after feeling pressure, which is something he can learn from and adjust. That just leaves 1 really bad play, which I still can't really help Grossman out with.

Well, look I don't hate Grossman. And certainly supported him. That said, at this point in his career "throwing off balance passes while feeling pressure" isn't something he should still be "learning from"

Also, while I agree that not all the interceptions are his fault. That's unfortunately the reality of playing QB. You get the blame for all of them. Just like not all TD passes should be solely credited to him

Defending Rex at this point is just laughable. Look at his career, his resume at this point tells you exactly what he is.

I don't hate the guy, but pretending he's on the cusp of greatness is just insane. He's an average QB, better suited as a backup at this point.

Also, having any Rex Grossman debate at this point is pretty pointless. He has lost his shot at becoming at best a game manager. The team has moved on to Beck and so should the fans.

Pointless up until Sun. and if Beck comes out and plays no better then it's no longer pointless. I'll tell you what, most likely I'll be here while watching the game or what ever game thread for the day they have here. "IF" Beck lights it up and is 100% better I'll be the first to say "touche', I was definitly wrong." However my arguement is not about which QB is better as it is more Beck will not do any better based off of our receivers and what their not getting done.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

I think we will move the ball better with Beck, but we now have issues with the O line, which makes the move to Beck even more sound. Who knows, he may surprise us and be an effective QB.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

I think Beck will give us a much better shot at 8-8 than Rex in a heart beat. Rex isn't inconsistent anymore, he is consistently BAD now. I just hope Hightower is in good shape, so we can run the ball more against Carolina. They have a crappy run defense.

Exactly, its not pointless. We need to know the facts before saying grossman sucks blah blah blah.Theres too many people calling out rex and saying how bad he is dismissing any evidence otherwise.Having said that I do think we need to switch to Beck at this point.I feel bad for rex but with our off line situation I feel we just cant have a staue in the pocket.I have no grand illusions of beck lighting it up,thats most likely not going to happen{except everybody has 1 great game,so its possible}Just feel we need someone that can avoid some of the sacks that our headed our way

What would you consider as Rex's "Great" game?

Re: John Beck Era Begins

At least Beck is mobile. All the Eagles had to do was stack the box and force Rexy to throw the ball. As soon as he started getting pressured, he crumbled. At least with Beck, he can take off and run or buy time for receivers to get open. He gives us a much better chance to win than Rexy. Thank God we only signed Rexy to a one year deal lol
