I think we took advantage of several teams. Allen and Shanahan do know how to build teams. It can't be done overnight though.

Thus, his actions all were predicated on building a fundamentally sound team where he could draft his guy, and have him have success. From that, the only questionable decision was getting rid of Campbell, but I have already said that, atleast in my opinion, that was simply moving a guy to clear out past history, so when he does bring in his guy, there are no divided loyalties.

Great Move. I see this being the 2000 Ravens QB decision when they benched Tony Banks for Trent Dilfer.

one thing is for sure. I'll be happy for at least one Sunday without rex grossman. The question that remains though, is will it be only one sunday without grossman?

Come on Beck. Gotta run with this chance. Prolly wont have many more chances to become a legit starter in this league after this one.

It might have to do with the fact he holds the ball like my 7-year-old niece.

I'll get used to it though, at least he's faster than my niece (unlike Rex).

Hey, give the guy at least one sunday to prove himself. He might be just the game manager this team needs. Who knows.

There was no other choice. He turned over the ball 2.3 times for the past eight games. He is what he has always been - the year he went to the Superbowl, he had 20 INTs and lost five fumbles. In the last seven games of that season, he turned the ball over eighteen times. The Chicago Bears got where they were that year because of their D; they got there because the D that allowed less than 100 yards per game showed up EVERY game (unlike ours), and could overcome Rex's turnovers.

We are very lucky we are not 1-4 instead of 3-2 because of his mistakes. He needed to be sat in the corner ever since the Dallas game when it was apparent to everyone in the world watching MNF that he was STILL the same Rex whose two INTs and two fumbles constantly shifted momentum back to the Colts in Superbowl XLI - who eventually took over that game and almost blew the Bears out in the 4th.

Shanny made the right move and told him to take a nap.

If Beck can just keep from turning the ball over and is slightly better than Rex, I am of the mind that it will have a measurable impact on how our O performs. He doesn't need to be great, just a little bit better than Rex and not as prone to boneheaded turnovers.

We'll see. He looked better in the pocket and under pressure than Rex.

Agreed, just "keeping it real". I'm pretty excited for the Beck era to begin. If Rex was starting I'd be depressed all week. I'm on the Beckwagon 100%.

Starting Beck is the right decision. We need to find out now just how high we need to take a QB in next years draft. As it is now, we're probably going to have a pick in the middle of the 1st round, and all the other teams will KNOW we want a QB, so there is a strong possibility that teams will jump ahead of us to take the QB we want.

If Beck surpises us and plays pretty well, teams wont know with 100% confidence that we're taking a QB (especially given our poor oline depth and lack of a true #1 wide receiver). therefore, seeing what beck can do is extremely important ot the long-term success of the franchise.
