| Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag The franchising of Washington's Fred Davis - NFC East Blog - ESPN Let's discuss... Should he get the tag? Cost is around 5 mil for the year. If he test positive for drugs he will be suspended for the year. If it worth while to place the tag on him or another player like Laron Landry?

| Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag I'm totally fine with it. And it doesn't mean they can't negotiate with him for a longer term deal I don't believe

| Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag It does mean the franchise tag can't go on someone else.

| Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag It's a cheap franchise and given his situation he couldn't possibly get too salty about it as is the norm when a player gets tagged. Considering he was one of our shiniest offensive players this year and our other TE may or may not ever play at a high or even average level again I am down with it. Who else would be a good tag for us? Landry probably...anyone else taggable without it being problematic? |

| Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag Im ok with it because it doesn't cost too much but I am worried about him as a repeat drug offender

| Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag Let's be honest though...a healthy Davis over 16 games is a great weapon for us. The drawback about the potential one-year ban is almost a non-issue for me. Who realistically replaces him and his potential production? |

| Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag I'd prefer to sign FD to a real deal and then use the franchise tag on Landry. Despite his off-field problems, FD is the only real playmaking receiver that we have.

| Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag I think we should be able to keep him without the franchise tag. Even if he goes out and looks, I doubt many teams will offer up a lot knowing he's one strike away from being out for the season, you talk nice to him, let him look, and then make a reasonable offer. He is a good weapon, but it's not the end if he were to hook up somewhere else. |

| Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag super cheap Franchise Tag .. maybe the cheapest in the league ??? I like the idea of keeping Davis & Cooley in the mix while developing Paulsen. However this smells of the end for Dirty 30 unless they have a long term deal in the works but it appears this regime ain't operating like that. This is going to be one hell of an off season.

| Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag landry sucks... he could be good, but only if he could get on the field and was never asked to cover anyone. if fred davis gets suspended, i heard that we get the money back for whatever games he misses, so why not? there are only two guys on this team you'd franchise this year (davis/landry) and both safety and TE are very cheap tags...

| Re: Fred Davis May get Franchise Tag I think if you franchise him then you are minimizing the risk that he'll test positive for weed again. The franchise tag is the equivalent of a one-year deal, which means he'll be playing for a big contract. He'll have every incentive in the world to keep himself clean. |
