I say we make a conditional trade with the Pats. If Hoyer reaches certain bench marks (yards, TD's, wins, etc) then we give New England a 2nd round pick. Anything else we give them a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Still Hoyer should be plan B, IE if on draft day they don't get RGIII then they trade with New England for Hoyer as I personally like the idea of him better then all the second tier QB's.

Wouldnt mind this at all or a healthy PM. I just hope their primary focus to get RGIII and we wont know till draft day, until then its all smoke screens and rumors.

I don't really like Peyton. Peyton is just an accident waiting to happen. Sure maybe we can fail only so many times but I see us looking back at Peyton this time next year, wherever he ends up, and saying "it was so obvious, all the warning signs were there."

If we signed Peyton Manning would it be quickly after he is released Smoot or would there be a waiting period?

I'm not sure why people keep saying Peyton is an accident waiting to happen when more than one doctor has said he's in no more risk of injury than anybody else out on the football field.

4 surgeries involving neck fusion on a 36 year old QB with reports coming out that he can't feel the throws across his body resulting in velocity problems.

Quote:
"He can't throw the ball," Lombardi said, as a guest on ESPN's “The B.S. Report with Bill Simmons.” "I've talked to people who've caught the ball for him. He can't throw the ball to his left. He can't throw the ball across his body, because he doesn't feel it. People that catch the ball for him say he doesn't really have velocity on the ball yet."
Maybe I'm wrong but this doesn't sit well with me. Funny thing is Dan Graziano agrees with you.

Not Like The Others
Redskins fans shouldn't let the franchise's checkered past make them leery of Peyton Manning.
These aren't the 'same old Redskins' - NFC East Blog - ESPN

It's very obvious RGIII probably had more plays per game or... Luck had a really good run game and didn't need to pass as much or run himself for the yrds.
The percentage of his running compared to Luck's is a better assessment. If both are running for 5% of the total plays, then it doesn't matter. If one is running 35% compared to the other 10% then it might would.

Also, Luck had 2 OL that will be drafted in the first round this year. Not sure RGIII had that same type of line. Many things factor in why a QB runs. This isn't like Cam Newton who rushed that many times on purpose. Newton didn't sniff 4,000 yards passing in college like RGIII has.

@MockingTheDraft I imagine if the #Browns aren't able to sign Matt Flynn that they'll make a strong push for the #Patriots' Brian Hoyer.

Well he is from Cleveland and the Browns did have him over for pre-draft visits back in 2009 (different management though) and the Browns do have an extra 1st round pick...

Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going

During a spot on "Redskins Nation" on CSN Washington -- via Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post -- Redskins GM Bruce Allen was asked about the team's plan at the QB position. Unsurprisingly, he was not exactly forthcoming with specific details:

"We have a game plan on what to do, and obviously a game plan has to have alternate routes on it based on what other clubs do. We feel good about it and how we're gonna address all the needs on our football team, and we're looking forward to getting after it."

I wish I could find it but I said a very similar thing you said, that there is more to a QB's situation then just the stats and was told I didn't know what I was talking about. Not by you but fans cant have it both ways. What I said was RGIII's runs may have been due to him not going through all his progressions or his OL breaking down causing him to run more.

Can hoyer really be that good? Honestly, sooo many scouts and GMs passed on him two years ago. Why is he worth a 1st round pick swap?

Before anyone starts bringing up Tom Brady, let's remember that that was a decade and a half ago... Scouting has developed considerably since then.

Yeah, I watched some Hoyer film and could not figure out what the big deal is. But obviously some of the pros see something in him.
