Key would could. There could be a mystery team that might trade to 2,3,4,5 pick to grab him. If he is the QB we want then I think you can't take any chances of some other team leap frogging us to get him.

With the Vikings and Rams targeting Khalil and Blackmon would they want to drop to the 12-20 spots is the case. Everyone has a price yes but not everyone is Atlanta Falcons stupid.

No but the Bucs or browns could drop that far to pick up extra picks. They do pick before us. Who knows what can happen? The Seahawks or chiefs could trade up. I am saying if we want him we better go get him and not wait for him to drop.

True. I'm for trading up but if Cleveland takes Flynn I'm about 90% sure Blackmon is a Brown. Bucs apparently love Claiborne, but I agree go get him. If I was the GM the trade would be unofficially official around the beginning of April lol.

Browns focusing on five in the first round | ProFootballTalk

The biggest takeaway from this: that the Browns can get someone from that group for certain if they trade down from 4 to 6.

The Dolphins remain a wild card pending free agency, but I still think Griffin will be there at no. 4, and I doubt that the Dolphins can put together an offer that beats the Redskins offer if the Browns really want someone on that short list.
Personally I think not.

Christian Ponder Could Be Odd Man Out for Vikings

Quote:
Last week, the rumors that Minnesota would entertain drafting Luck or Griffin, got some credibility, as Vikings GM Rick Spielman acknowledged it would be under consideration. To that I say, why wouldnít it be? Sure itís not what Christian Ponder wants to hear, but beyond that, the Vikings are stupid to not weigh all their options.
Quote:
Many Vikings fans want to draft Justin Blackmon, which would give Ponder a clear number one option for years to come. This is definitely a realistic option, and should be under equal consideration. However, the most important position in the NFL is quarterback. Elite QBís donít just come around every year. The Vikings have a chance that presents itself to a franchise, maybe once every fifteen years
Report: Browns will try to draft RG3

Quote:
According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, thereís a really good chance that the Browns will attempt to trade up for the second overall pick in Aprilís draft, in order to get Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III.
ďIf the Browns determine at the Combine next week and maybe through one or two more visits that RGIII is their man, I donít think they would hesitate to give up their No. 4 and their No. 22 to pull off this deal,Ē said Cabot. ďÖ Itís almost a perfect match. I think at this point itís very likely that could happen.Ē
The Browns will of course have to outbid the Washington Redskins for the second pick, since theyíve also been mentioned as team thatís looking to trade up for RGIII.. Thereís no question though that the Browns have a lot more ammunition then the Redskins to make the trade happen.
I'm just saying as I've said in the past don't think just because we want RGIII that no one else will attempt to get him. Don't think that because each team above us from 1-5 has other needs besides QB ... don't think they are not thinking the same way you guys are ... that RGIII " solves our QB situation for the next 10+ years". I just have not seen that the Rams, Vikes, or Browns are satisfied with their QB situation and won't draft a QB. Yes they have several options to think about but if their coaching staff believes as some fans here do that RGIII is a once in a life time type of QB then expect them to make a run at drafting him also.

I just don't see the Skins being able to pick up RGIII and don't see him falling to them at #6. Trade back pick up more picks get the next best QB and WR to make a duo for the future.

Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going

I swear I just love how fans seem to think they know what the other teams will do.

Browns getting Flynn? why? he'd be better served to go to Miami where his former coach went to.

PM to Miami? I doubt it. Seattle? I doubt it. Browns? their a hexed franchise. Redskins are about the only team who can out bid everyone and still pick up other FA's. Plus look closer to the playoffs vs. some of the other teams needing a QB. Unless he takes chump change to go to the Giants to be with his brother.

Hoyer will cost a draft pick. I'd make the trade if it was a late round pick like a 4th or later. Other wise keep the draft picks.

Orton, please don't get me started. Orton couldn't beat out Grossman in Chicago. We'd be better off keeping Grossman due to him already having knowledge of the scheme.

orton is much more careful with the ball. that goes a long way with a defense like ours.

Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going

This is the time of the year where every agent, team exec, team scout really amp up their embelishments, exxagerations and half truths.

Everyone is telling stories with varying levels of truth to each in an effort to create value for their player/client, or their draft position, or to glean information about how different teams or scouts rate their client, or other prospects.

Each part of the chain is dependent upon the other for their information.
Yet everyone knows that they're not at liberty nor are they expected to be completely honest.
A scout might tell an agent something (that may not be true) in exchange for something that agent tells the scout (that may not be true) the scout then talks to a reporter/journalist/media member and tells them something 'off the record' (that almost certainly isn't true about a prospect or about their teams plans) the reporter then confirms this story with an agent (who will say virtually anything to increase his clients value). Story gets printed in a newspaper or blog or article.
Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

Orton is only a stopgap at best in my eyes.
Although he's clearly better then Rex, I view him as a player that's peaked and has a clearly defined ceiling.
(never mind that he was available twice last year and signing him now would be admitting that last year was a needlessly wasted season)

I think our main threats for acquiring RGIII are the same places I would look to find an interim starter for a rookie QB while still providing the upside to develop into a bona fide starter themself.

If the Browns or Dolphins acquire RGIII I would happily see their former QBs on our roster (behind Peyton Manning ) or under center next year.

But I wonder if the Shanahan's have enough cache left with the fanbase to make that type of move without placing themselves firmly on the hotseat?

I would love to have Colt McCoy for a 4th round pick.

I can see most of those scenarios, but Orton and Campbell?? I believe with the way they played last year, they will get a shot to start somewhere. Orton to back up Bradford, and Campbell to Cutler, that isn't a competition that is pretty much saying they are the backups.

Campbell and Orton will get a shot to start somewhere, or at least compete for the job.
