Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)

After watching various draft related episodes of Top 10 on NFL Network I've come to the realization that essentially we know nothing. You could have a situation like Tony Dorsett where none of the draft picks you gave up are worth nearly as much as him. You could have a Ricky Williams type of deal happen where you give up your entire draft for a single player yet the team you traded with (Redskins) does nothing worthwhile with those picks. You could also end up with Jeff George, a complete bust. Or you could end up with Mike Vick going to one team and LaDanian Tomlinson going to another.

In the end I think we'd be crazy not to give up a reasonable amount to get RGIII. Who knows when we'll be within striking distance of such a talent at QB again.

Or it could be a Hershel Walker situation where Dallas took all those picks and won 3 Super Bowls.

I think we should get comfortable with the idea of Manning going to the Cards or Fins and RGIII going to Cleveland. Both are way more realistic than either coming here.

Those who say we should just "go out" and sign Manning forget it's not up to us, it's up to Manning. Miami and Arizona are better situations.

Maybe we make a run at Flynn or Orton and trade back for Tannehill, Weeden or Cousins. Have another solid draft and round of free agency and continue to build.

And you know this how?? According to you we don't have a chance at RG3. Peyton wouldn't come here, because the Redskins suck, and on, and on... I guess next you will tell us we are trading away all of our draft picks to the Giants for no compensation..

I so wish I could block certain people from this site. I am now heading to the Giants forum to post nonsense, because I have nothing better to do..

We tagged Davis, but can lose Fletch, etc. Losing Fletch would be a big blow to the D and would mean either a FA LB or a draft a MLB. We really need 2 LBs to shore that corp up to be honest. We need the picks to rebuild, unless you RG III freaks want to have a few more lousy seasons. The kid is talented, but like Cam, without a decent supporting cast, he isn't going to win anything. Manning had his supporting cast stacked for ages. Also, do you think RG III is going to have half a chance with our O line? He will be running alright, running all the time and getting whacked good over the course of a 16 game season, if he survives it. Don't get me wrong I would love to get RG III, but damn multiple high round picks? C'mon now guys. Our starting O line consists of second stringers posing as starters. Our Dbs are substandard anymore and two of our wideouts are turning into candidates for the geriatric ward. Continue to upgrade the oline and the DBbs. I would utilize both the draft and FA to do this. I just think we could use a youth infusion still.
Our O-line was terrible? When did that happen? Because I didnt see Rex get hurt once all season and both our rookie RBs had 100 yard rushing games without 2 of our best O linemen. If RGIII is more brittle than Rex then I don't want him no matter what O line is playing in front of him.

2. If you read my post I was simply giving the best case scenario for what we get out of him. Do I really think we could get that out of him? He could play until he is 40. So that would give you 4 years. I would feel safe in saying three good years in him, in those three drafts you find a guy, and groom him to take over. BTW there may be a player in this year's draft that could be the next Matt Schaub or insert late round draft pick who is now a hot RFA and FA this year.
But you still didn't respond to my point. If we do the Peyton Manning route this year in a few years time we are still looking for a franchise QB. It is likely in order to get that franchise QB we will have to deal picks in the future to move up high enough in the draft to get one, so what is the difference between rolling the dice this year and waiting 2 or 3 years to do it? I understand you have more picks for the draft this year but you are just delaying the inevitable. And there may not be a guy worth trading up for in a draft a few years in the future. What then? Settle for an average FA or late round draft pick? My point is if the coaches feel like RG3 is worth it, then you go after him. You don't know what things are going to look like 3 years down the road.

With your second point I agree that there could be a player in the draft that could be a diamond in the rough. But looking at the law of averages, who is going to be more likely to pan out, a top 10 QB prospect or a 6th round no name? Tom Bradys' aren't exactly falling out of the sky on the regular.

Careful deduction and guessing my dear Watson!!!

The jets will give Peyton full and total control in the O and will bring in who ever he wants ,the jets want to win right now(yesterday is not too soon) and deal with the future later. The Skins want to build for the future also with Mannings injury he would be better off in a warm climate or indoors the Cardinals have it all the indoor /outdoor stadium and most of the opponants are warm weather teams.

AND YES THIS IS ALL MY IDEA.....I THOUGHT OF IT FIRST.

Seriously, you guys just won a super bowl. Nothing better to do than come to the 4th place divisional rivals message board to give us your "insight" on our offseason moves?

Kinda pathetic if you would ask me, dear watson.......

Reports out of Cleveland are saying Dolphins are out, Brown refusing to give up their 2nd first round pick, and Redskins refusing to give up their 2nd round pick (I had heard refusing 2013 1st, but whatever). Smart moves by these teams. Make the Rams work for it. Everyone knows they're not going to hold onto that #2 pick, and even if they do they're not taking RG3

IMO great new Lambs trying to get to greedy. Vikings might be wanting less.

Good. No need to rush, let free agency play out and the Rams will lose some leverage right away.

i don't mind this scenerio, if this were the case i think i would take the risk.

So if the Redskins are the team moving up, they might be able to keep this year’s second overall pick. But they’d probably have to give up this year’s first and third, and next year’s first and fifth.
