Re: Return Of Lavar

man, I blink and theres another 30 posts that I have to go back and read on this thread...lol.

This thread reminds me of some of the first threads that I started as a member of this board. Almost all of which were about the canes, and which one we should draft. I definitly feel like I had more to say on that subject that this one

They did not know the backups would play above themselves and they did not know that 2 years ago when they resigned Lavaar.

So the question remains would we be a better football team with Lavaar? Character, athletic ability, and dominance as a football player clearly wins. He is better then any other backer out there.

Re: Return Of Lavar

Hey he can shout especially when he is praising me. THANKS!!!

Trotter was deadwood. Constantly out of position in this particular scheme that we ran with Lewis then Edwards. He consistenly missed tackles. In fact I would say that Armstead out performed Trotter in both years. In Philly they zone blitz alot more and Trotter seems to be always on the run blitz and pass blitz.

Re: Return Of Lavar

Ah, you're right. Sorry Bigskinbauer. Got you confused with someone else.

We'll see how LaVar plays this year. I think we'll pick this discussion up again next year with a better barometer.

Re: Return Of Lavar

He will improve an already EXCELLENT defense......if he had remained healthy we might have been the #1 instead of the #2 defense in the league................

Offiss: This is courtesy of redskins.com Not an Impact LB?!?! Stop being a cerial polemicist and listen to the millions of people who actually watch the NFL, particularlly Redskins games.

Career Highlights

Considered one of the most dominant and athletic linebackers in the NFL, Arrington struggled through an injury-plagued 2004 season, playing in only four games due to a knee injury. In 2003, he was named as a starter to his third straight NFC Pro Bowl squad. He has either led or finished second on the Redskins in tackles from 2001-03 and has compiled 432 tackles (290 solo) in his five seasons in the league. He has 22.5 career sacks and in 2002 he posted 11, tops on the squad and NFL linebackers. He is the Redskins' physical and emotional leader and has risen to the upper echelon of players in the league in just four seasons after being selected second overall in the 2000 NFL Draft.
How Acquired: Selected by the Washington Redskins in the first round (2nd overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft.

Re: Return Of Lavar

Here's a bit more of an objective review of LaVar from Scouts Inc.

Quote:
Name: LaVar Arrington
Position: Linebacker
Grade: 88 | Key
Alert: None

Comment:
Arrington has gone to the Pro Bowl as a starter in each of the last three seasons and he is expected to make the transition from the strong-side to the weak-side this year. Attacks the line of scrimmage when reads run, possesses good bulk and has the lower body strength to hold his ground at the point of attack. Takes good angles to the ball, generally closes down cutback lanes and is fast enough to consistently chase plays down from behind. Explodes into tackles, plays with a mean streak and is a fierce hitter that will force some fumbles. Flashes good ball skills and is capable of providing the occasional big play. As a pass rusher, has the explosive first step to beat most offensive linemen of the snap, is fast enough to turn the corner and shows good closing speed. Arrington takes too many chances and he needs to play with more discipline but he is still one of the best in the league and he is almost unblockable when he plays within the scheme. He is a playmaker that is stout against the run, consistently forces quarterbacks to hurry decisions and can cover backs out of the backfield.
