| Niles Paul... Tight End? Cooley, Paul, and the Redskins TE Situation. "Coach gave me a call earlier this offseason and asked me how I'd feel about switching to tight end," Paul said in a phone interview Friday morning. "I told him, 'I'll play wherever you want me.' I've done everything I've been asked, and I'll keep doing it. I'm excited about the position change. I'm excited that coach has enough respect for me that he'd call me to ask me what I thought about it." Interesting... I like it. He was on the field A LOT last year to have only a couple of catches... means they loved his blocking at the WR spot... He basically go from an average speed WR to a fast TE who can block. BTW.. Paul's listed at 6'1, 224lbs... Davis is 6'4, 258lbs, and Cooley is 6'3, 255lbs... so he'd need a little more weight maybe? Also.. one of things pointed out in this article is Cooley's cap number and how if Paul can play TE, they'd have more leverage in renegotiating Cooley's contract (6.23 mil this year) or cutting him all together.

I feel more explosive then ever at 234! Feels right. He's put on 10 and has a few more to go. No more than 238 they said.

| Re: Niles Paul... Tight End? I just think its really awesome. Im pulling for Paul to make the transition and then to have a positive impact. Shanny does not keep it boring around here.

| Re: Niles Paul... Tight End? I think he will be better there. He isn't super fast or big for a receiver but he has good blocking and a different combination and would probably do better at tight end.

| Re: Niles Paul... Tight End? It saves just over $2 million to cut him now. The real gain is in 2013, where he no longer counts any of the $5.8 million. The other options are to keep him at his $6 mil figure this year and then only get a fraction of that cap back next year if he is released, or to release him post June 1 and save something close to $4 million this year. But then there is a small (between 1 and 2 million) cap charge next year. Or keep him until his contract expires, obviously.

| Re: Niles Paul... Tight End? i think cooley was hurt, not that he magically lost it last year, so i'd rather keep him and see how he is this season. move is kinda meh for me. he was basically just a blocker last year and it looks like he'll kinda be doing the same thing this year. I don't think blocking LBs or DEs is going to be an easy as the DBs he was stuffing last year though.

| Re: Niles Paul... Tight End? Some years back the Redskins had an H-back/TE named Craig McEwen from 1987-1991 and was a pretty good receiver. He was 6-1, 220. |

| Re: Niles Paul... Tight End? LOVE to see them thinking out of the box a bit.... Cooley has had his share of health probs and there is no guarantee that Fred can keep his head outta' the..........weed bag. Good security move.....who knows.
