D is an issue, kicking was an issue, seems thats on a better track and if it had been through the first few weeks we might be singing a different tune... so theres lots of blame to go around, not just Mike ... like i've said... some of our d players and haslett would be the first to go IMO

Still wonder why coaches like Bill Walsh and Bill Belichek get all the glory for winning their SBs even though they've never won without their HoF QBs, but Mike gets zero credit for winning 2 SBs. They give the credit to Elway.

You can't have it both ways. Either Walsh,McCarthy, Tomlin, Johnson, BB, and Mike were ALL carried by their QBs or they weren't.

Fact is, nobody can point to me in the past 2 decades of a coach winning the SB without a stud at the Qb spot. There were only 2 times these past 20 years it hasn't happened.

1) Baltimore Ravens
2) Tampa Bay Bucs

I imagine you can figure out what those two teams had in common.

I can attribute 2 losses directly to horrible discipline, idiot penalties and lack of focus. And one on a kicker that HE himself brought in, yet another Shanahan signing, which blew up in his face. The guy makes questionable move after questionable move, keeps the skins in the cellar of the NFCE, yet he needs more time. Time to what? To tutor RG3? Gimme a break. Im tired of giving him a pass, ESPECIALLY now that he has his QB, and the team continues its march down Underperform Street.

Some of what you say is true. But RG3 is the most important piece to this franchise. Do you a la Jason Campbell him and bring in a new staff, and make him learn a new offense? Let him grow in this offense. Keep molding it around him. For the most part they've done a good job with him. Why change that? What I would do is completly strip Mike Shanahan of all personel decisions. Just let him coach the team and let the front office folks bring in the players.

Shanahan will never agree to that, nor will he agree to keeping his hands off the defense. This is the crux of the problem with him, it's all or nothing.

I recognize you tend to see things in extremes, or black and white etc, but there's nuance involved here. Sean Peyton for example is an HC and offensive genius, but I've heard many referrences to how he gave his d-coordinator and GM the reigns on defensive personnel. In fact, going into one draft I specifically remember hearing talk about how Peyton was "giving the d what it wanted."

Dude im on your side. I was saying exactly what you just said. If you back up Smoot had said I think you are missing our point. I than was saying - no your point was - but he aint winning with rg 3 either. Perfectly good argument and must have taken you a while to get that all out but you are preaching to the choir. Lol.

I totally agree about the thread hi jacking. Which is why this one must remain open. Its a final resting place for all of the redundant arguments from both sides. There are alot more than 7 percent who could want him gone next week if we lose to the lowly panthers, let alone after the season. The other thing i have noticed is that ALOT of other threads get hijacked when the "apologists" start something with an off topic comment like - " yeah like maybe we should blame MS for this too" / sarcasm - lol". That happens ALL the time. You want to say the "haters" just bust into threads Shanny bashing for no reason - but it is ALWAYS predecessed by a little spark like the comment above. Always.

Cus Belechik and Walsh never went 13 seasons barely sniffing the playoffs for one. Also they built great teams - lott, rice , - etc etc etc till the cows come home. Yes the qb's were there. He is here too. So maybe he will put a great team around Griff but he hasnt yet. You have no better reason to say he will than we to say he wont.

Edit: another thing - nobody wants shanny gone cus he isnt winning superbowls. How bout you look up how many teams have had more than five wins in a season over the past two decades without a stud qb?!?

this poll is so stupid .. obviously 3-5 is not where we should be but you gotta be kidding me with how he is working with RG3 .. he's an offense guy and we have the best running game and a top 5 QB whose a rookie. Haslett now that's a different story .. btw the season aint over jesus everyone is so quick to jump ship it's annoying ... learn the game people ... 9-7 won super bowl last 2 years .. we can't go 8-8 or 9-7 with 5 DIVISION GAMES LEFT .. yeah we can actually .. Relax enjoy the RG3 show - ... we are a penalty away from possibly winning both Rams and Bengals games oh and yeah we had the Giants by the ball sack and gave that game up on DEFENSE ... just typing this i'm getting annoyed with fair weather skins' fans .. Walsh went 2-14 his first season. 6-10 his second season. He drafted Montana in 79 which was his first season. SO he's NEVER EVER coached another team to glory and has had the luxury of a HoF QB his entire tenure.

So how many winning seasons or Super Bowls did either of them win without their HoF QB??

Still haven't heard this answer yet.

This is about giving the man his credit and you guys simply aren't giving him any. You expect him to lead the league in offense with a broken down OL, shit WRs, and a bum QB. Once he gets legit weapons, you then say it's not because of him, but those players.

So again, I ask you, how successful was Walsh or Bellichek without those players? I'll be waiting ....
