Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?

I can't believe people are asking for Shanny's pink slip already. Look at the Browns. Have they made bad decisions to led to their streak of sub-mediocrity? Sure. But what else is going against them? Any time they get a coach, they get fired and start from scratch with a new scheme. Look at the best teams consistently in the league. They build from the ground up, with a consistent focus and scheme that doesn't change from year to year. Everyone is always looking for the next "great coach" when things don't work out in the short term. Well who is to say the next hire will be any more competent than the one that was just fired? And all you have accomplished by doing that if they new hire is not successful is blowing up any continuity the team had.

This team has been bad for a long time, with a ton of terrible personnel decisions by Cerrato. We aren't going to turn things around with a snap of the fingers folks. Shanahan has a winning pedigree, he just needs time to get the building blocks in place. Our defense is atrocious this year. That will obviously be addressed this off season. We have had a lot of injuries and have not had the depth to replace them, again due to poor personnel decisions of the past leaving huge holes in our roster. Everyone needs to chill the heck out and pull for the team to get pulled together, not pulled apart.

I was surprised to see it was Phillips. Geez oh man Phillips took over a team loaded with talent. The last time a coach walked into that kind of situation was...holy sh!t Mike Shanahan in Denver?! Mike is a better coach than Wade. Makes me feel lucky we have him lmao

Did you see Parcells went 10-6 in his first year, and Dallas was 5-11 the year before?

December 2010 called, it wants its argument back.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?

I am so disgusted and disappointed that at this point, I couldn't tell you if I'd be opposed or happy to see Mike Shanahan go. I understand both arguments for and against. I'm just at this point where I'm tired of the bad luck, bad choices in coaching, bad choices in players. At some point you'd think things would change.

Yeah, and I see he was 0-1 playoff wise there. 34-30 overall regular season. Yawn. What are we talking about again?

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?

I think in the end, Mike's downfall (if there is one) will be his decision to go with Haslett as his DC. This was by far his biggest mistake. (not even the McNabb trade) Not sure what the **** he was thinking bringing in a guy who didn't want to run that particular defense, nor hadn't ran it in 11 years. You mean in that year off he couldn't find somebody worth a damn to run this defense? Romeo? Phillips? I know Zimmer was his first choice, but god damn there had to be somebody else.

Becoming a serious football team. First, you start with a serious coach. Then...

I agree. He does have to answer for that and it's the biggest reason we're going nowhere this year.

Re: Should Mike Shanahan be fired?

As bad as Haslett is we don't have any players. The player/personel Mike Shanahan is going to be his downfall more so than Jim Haslett. I don't think he survives this. Losing to Carolina at home with the tough part of the schedule coming up....we're looking at possibly having a 3-5 win season. The Rams could possibly have a top 3 pick next year from the Redskins.

To add to this, and it just hit me while take the trash out. (which is what mike should be doing) How does he expect the players to buy into a defensive scheme that his own coach doesn't even buy into? (or want to run) How can you effectively run something you don't have your heart into? How can you get your players to buy into that when they know your heart isn't into it?

So yeah, this was a HUGE mistake by Mike.

Yep, when your best starting field position is the 35 yard line going in to the 4th Qaurter.. Well, that's saying something..

I don't even think the Offense has been in many good positions this year. Our defense is the main reason for our downfall at the moment. We don't hold anyone down, we allow teams to chew up clock, and break off big plays when they need them.

Same old song and dance this year.

The below rant is my feelings after todays game.

After todays game and seeing the play calling and the performance of the players I do think it is time for a (Coaching) change. I can handle the Rookie QB making mistakes, not the veterans. The guys are to slow and missing assignments. This is a direct reflection of the coaching staff and the FO. At some point all jobs are held to be accountable. Coach Shannahan is not getting it done, and play calling is absolutely pathetic and getting worse. I understand that the team has had injuries, but so does all the other teams that seem to find away to find away to win. We just get worse, the Redskins are going for a 6 to 7 win season, which agian is where we have been for last 15- 20 years. I know that we are all getting sick of this.

Thoughts?

This "he's not a serious coach" argument is such weak shit. What the **** does that even mean?
