Thank you for submitting something legit. A shame with all the hatters, they couldn't come up with anything really.

Who would you hire as head coach?
Really depends on who is available after the season. i wouldn't go with a college coach.
Some thoughts would be: Brian Shotty, Cam Cameron, Ray Horton

What offensive system would you want in place and who (OC) will run it?
I'd like to run a Pats type system, but don't like the quantity of option routes in the system. I would combine this with the Air Coryell system (playcalling/route numbering) with fixed routes and reads. Run game would be a more power based game, rather than the zone system we run.

I'd want either of the two mentioned above or someone from the Coryell, Gibbs, Norv Turner coaching tree (not Norv himself tho). Sarkisian maybe as OC if Shotty or Cameron.

What defensive system would you want in place and who (DC) will run it?
Defensive system would be the Bum Phillips one-gap 3-4 or Dick Lebeau's attacking zone-blitz scheme.

Rod Woodson possible DC or someone who was under Wade Phillips.

Cam Cameron? Absolutely not. That guy is about to be ran out of Baltimore as it is. I have watched too many Ravens game where he has Flacco passing 40+ times with Ray Rice having hardly any carries. He's the only name on your list I found to be a terrible choice.

Consider Bill Polian as he has been successful everywhere he's been.

Head Coach is very difficult at this point because the season needs to play out. I would consider Jay Gruden if the Bengals offense plays well down the stretch. Greg Roman of the 49ers has been suggested here, and has a strong buzz. I would prefer to have an offensive minded coach.

However I do believe that a black Head Coach may be the best option for the organization given the makeup of the team and the city. Don't want to bring race into it per se, but honestly do feel an AA coach here offers certain intangibles that should be factored in. Relating to the players, dealing with the local media and fanbase, diffusing certain criticisms and speculations. My 2 choices would be Roy Horton, DC of Ari, or Perry Fewell, DC of NYG. Both have impressive resumes and are great with players and media. Both are defensive minded, which may be more of a necessity.

I am also very enamored with Chip Kelly of Oregon, the Spurrier debacle not withstanding. Kelly has reportedly strong organizational skills which Spurrier did not. The Patriots employ parts of their high octane offense successfully, so it should translate. I want to see the Ducks play Alabama for the Title first. Bama has virtually an NFL defense, and an impressive showing against them puts Kelly at the top of my list. Kelly's offense would be explosive with Griffin and with the appropriate speed around him. Kelly might jump with a Title and RG as his QB. Enticing possibilities and a track meet on sundays. Scary going back to a college coach though.

As far as coordinators go, that is up to the HC. Also want to see who gets fired at the end, but Rex Ryan, Mike Zimmer are options with an offensive HC. 1st timers might be Vance Joseph, DB coach of Texans, or Greg Jackson, DB coach of 9ers if a defensive HC is hired.

Offense might be, if fired, Jason Garrett or Rob Chudzinski as possible options with a defensive HC. Dark horse might be Brian Callahan, asst with Denver, who helped with Tebow transformation midseason last year, and now breaks down film with Peyton Manning. Young though.
.
Love the choice of Eric Decosta. Not so much with Chudzinski. Panther fans want this guy ran out of town...and pronto...lol

The one problem I have with Bill Polian is the same one I have with AJ Smith. Brilliant mind, but lets his ego get in the way. No way would he be able to coexist with Danny.

Re: If Shanny's Not Your Man, Then What Is Your Plan?

No coaches.

RGIII just takes 10 guys out to play street ball on offense.

The D just flies around and goes headhunting on every play...when they get tired or hurt, they tap out like a pro wrestler for a breather. I say Lorenzo Alexander can be the Defensive captain since he can play every position. He picks the starters.

Lets just try it out for one year.

well, if our entire team were RGIIIs and STs, that'd actually work really well.

sadly, the reality is a bit different.

A fan doesn't need to have the answers in order to clearly see the problem. Shanahan has quit on the season and I, for one, don't want a quitter for a Head Coach. I know he tried to back off of his post game remarks but I don't believe he misspoke.

Also, he regularly blames his players while defending his coaches which apparently has caused some resentment among the players. Some players have been courageous enough to speak up about the intractability of Jim Haslett, in particular. Surely, there are more players who believe that they alone are being blamed for what is wrong with the team. If so, I'm sure they would view that as unfair to them. In short, I think that he has probably lost the locker room.

Not to mention that the fans need only look at Shanahan's win/loss record as the Head Coach of the Redskins to figure out that he hasn't exactly set the NFL on fire.

Personally, I'm just about done with Shanahan. As I said above, I don't think I need to know how to fix the Redskins in order to justify my having that opinion. If Dan Snyder decides that Shanahan should go, then it's his job to figure out what to do next.
So your saying I just want him gone and I dont have a clue about who we should bring in. Nice

Re: If Shanny's Not Your Man, Then What Is Your Plan?

I like the thread paintrain and its funny that all the Shanny haters could not come up with a solid plan to replace him. Its easy to say fire a coach but when things are not going well. We need to stop having knee jerk reactions when the team loses. Hey we have a ton of injuries and a rookie qb that is a difference maker. Look every one is on the Colts bandwagon cause they have a winning record now. Tell who have they played this year. Their schedule is garbage but hey they are winning against bad teams so I give them some props. As for the Redskins we need to learn how to have a home field advantage thats the most disappointing thing about this team is our poor home record. Damn are our fans that bad we can't win at home. Im supporting Shanny and I know he wil turn this thing around.

Re: If Shanny's Not Your Man, Then What Is Your Plan?

If there's a college i like, it would be Stanford's David Shaw. He's was flying low under the radar, Stanford beating Oregon just put him into the spotlight. Last year he had Andrew Luck. This year they lost many key players from last year, including making a QB switch 2 weeks ago.

Re: If Shanny's Not Your Man, Then What Is Your Plan?

History shows that college coaches (with no NFL background) simply do not do well in the league. Different game. The only college coach that's been successful has been Jimmy Johnson. Even then, he couldn't duplicate that success at Miami. Even the "great" Nick Saban was a bust in the NFL.

He hasn't won anything yet really but SFRedskin would respond with "Two Words: Jim Harbaugh"

You are right!! Shaw has proven this year that he can win on his own without Harbaugh. Last year he inherited an excellent team (2 players from that team were drafted in the 1st round and 2 in the 2nd). This year he had to fill many holes, switched to a new QB 2 weeks ago, a redshirt freshman (Kevin Hogan) and beat #2 ranked Oregon in Oregon and held them to 14 pts. As for being ready for the NFL, I would give him one more year, but would put him under consideration. By the way, he has been an NFL assistant for 9 years before going back to college.
