| Re: Good/Bad News for a Change - 2013 18MM cap penalty probably (not) going away Well according to HTTR 247, we're about to restructure Halls Deal, so that should soften it a little.

| Re: Good/Bad News for a Change - 2013 18MM cap penalty probably (not) going away Redskins put contract talks on hold as they work to recoup salary cap space "The Redskins have put contract negotiations with some of their players on hold, telling agents and players they remain hopeful they can recoup some of the salary cap space that was cut by the NFL last year, according to several people familiar with the situation. Redskins officials have told those agents and players that they cannot negotiate in earnest until the salary cap matter is resolved. The players include some eligible for free agency in March and others who face the possibility of release unless their contracts are reworked, those people said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because the team does not want such issues discussed publicly. The team has told parties involved that it hopes to reach a resolution by late this week." |

| Re: Good/Bad News for a Change - 2013 18MM cap penalty probably (not) going away Right. Realize we've been grasping at straws in this thread for weeks/months, but to me this is a fairly significant report. If it is to be believed (and is not just more posturing vis a vis the agent community), it indicates that the Redskins FO thinks there is a chance they are going to get some of this cap room back. Obviously a big "if." |

| Re: Good/Bad News for a Change - 2013 18MM cap penalty probably (not) going away In the movies/TV dramas, Snyder would have hired a PI to dig up dirt on Mara, and forced him to make a change. Anyone got a good Polaroid? |

| Re: Good/Bad News for a Change - 2013 18MM cap penalty probably (not) going away They'd have to find dirt on every owner that voted against us. It's not just Mara.

| Re: Good/Bad News for a Change - 2013 18MM cap penalty probably (not) going away I know, but it's a political thing, get dirt on one or two, and the rest will fall in line. If Mara came out in support of another 2 year split of the penalty, then everyone else would go along. And also, of course, my post was in fact 100% serious, with no sarcasm or joking at all. |

| Re: Good/Bad News for a Change - 2013 18MM cap penalty probably (not) going away WP updated their article from earlier with this: "Update: 3:37: Redskins officials have told people in the league that they are considering going to court to seek an injunction that would hold up the start of free agency or threatening that move in a bid to bolster their negotiating leverage with the league. Those conversations were confirmed by two people with knowledge of them. Both said that the Redskins have compelling arguments they could make in an attempt to convince a judge that they would suffer irreparable harm if they are not granted an injunction. But others familiar with the case have said they don’t believe the Redskins have legal arguments that weren’t already considered, and rejected, by an arbitrator." Redskins put contract talks on hold as they work to recoup salary cap space–Updated Love that they're going to the mat on this. They won't win in court though. Leverage is all they can hope for. |

| Re: Good/Bad News for a Change - 2013 18MM cap penalty probably (not) going away Agreed. The nfl is a weird business; they fine teams for wanting to spend money on players, and fine players for not dressing accordingly, yet don't fine players for pushing referees.
