| Good/Bad News for a Change - 2013 18MM cap penalty probably (not) going away Per Chris Russell on ESPN980 an hour ago: We've been secretly fighting the cap penalty all season and now, multiple high level officials inside the organization who have deep, intimate knowledge of ongoing negotiations, "strongly believe" we will get "most, if not all" of the 18MM 2013 cap penalty back. Chris also said he asked Mike Shanahan today if we would get any of the cap penalty back and he said, "I can't really talk about it because we're still involved in this... I hope that answers your question." Nice to know that not only did we get to the playoffs without the penalty, but we could be penalty free in 2013. And because of the penalty this year, we got to play a lot of young guys and give them experience, who otherwise wouldn't have gotten it had we filled more holes in free agency.

I have to say I get giddy thinking about what the defense will look like with Orakpo, Carriker, and Meriweather healthy. Let alone what it would look like with a free agent starting safety added to that mix. | |
