| Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months How weird is it that a Skins player from our 1991 SB run became a surgeon, and then was the surgeon who operated on RG3's first ACL injury? |

I think this is what this boils down to. Skins PR staff calming the masses so they'll keep the fans from bailing next season. If they knew he'd be out the 2013 season, I can guarantee you they wouldn't tell us. Why would they? Gotta milk that cash cow and continue to give people hope so they'll buy tickets, only to string them along. Mind you, I do think he'll be back next year, but I was merely using this as an example. The fact they've been so secretive this past weeks generally means there is more to it than what there is. Hell, you can tell from the spin they put on the surgery itself. "Oh, he had his LCL repaired....and by the way we decided to redo his previous ACL surgery". In other words, he also tore his ACL and but we don't want to come out and say how severe the damage was because we don't want to take the heat. (for keeping him in the game) As far as his return, I just hope its sooner than we hope, and he comes back when he's 100%. (not 80%) Whether that's going to be 6 months or 12 months remains to be determined.

| Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months All the planets aligned. My biggest worry is what they talk about in the article. RGIII is SO highly motivated that he will try and push too hard and actually do more harm than good. I couldn't believe reading about his first ACL tear in college and he would sit in a chair and throw passes to his father for hours.

| Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months I hate to play the what if game but a buddy at work borough up a awesome point. What if we had got Peyton here and had drafted Cousins. Imagine 3 good years with PM and him teaching Cousins. Plus we still have all our draft picks. sigh.

| Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months Then Cousins would end up being an average quarterback and we would be set back for another 5 years. |

1) Manning doesnt teach, he takes most or all the reps, and is solely focused on winning. That's not a bad thing, but I don't think Cousins would learn from Manning (no other qb has), and it's not his job. His job is to win. 2) Manning very possibly would be hurt behind our current line, which is built around rollouts screens and a qb that is mobile | |

| Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months Robert Griffin III, other NFL players likely fearful of 'Jay Cutler' treatment - Yahoo! Sports Somehow I think it does play a big part. The one thing I can tell with RGIII is that he tries to prove his toughness. You can see it in the quotes. Quote:

...and there countless of other quotes just like this. He has nothing to prove, and I certainly don't think anybody has questioned his heart. Even if they did, who gives a ****.

| Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months Stephen McGee, Kafka, Skelton, Crompton, Rusty Smith, Dan LeFevour, Nate Davis, Rhett Bomar... You know what they have in common with Tom Brady and Cousins? They were drafted in the 4th round or later... You go with the norm not the outlier. There is a reason the vast majority of franchise starting quarterbacks are taken in the first round. Tom Brady being the exception. Not the rule. Don't compare Cousins to Brady. |

| Re: RGIII undergoing total reconstructive surgery: out 6-8 months He is a backup quarterback, if the skins really believe he will be an answer as a starter they would be mistaken. Look at Flynn, Kolb from philly, there is a reason they are listed number 2 in depth charts. There was also a reason the skins did not want cousins to play in the playoff game. Maybe cause they knew Cousins would not win them that game. Extremely small sample size with Cousins and Redskins fans act like he is going to come in next year and take the team to the playoffs... Cousins is a great backup... average starter. |

This will be interesting if they push it.
