You and I basically agree on this with a subtle difference. I tend to think nature should rule. And I think homosexuality is essentially an unnatural thing. But why should I or anyone care? I don't think less of people who don't eat meat although I believe humans are meant to eat balanced meals including meat. And I don't think less of homosexuals. I think less of people who do something to actually harm society...like bigots who try and stop people from being who they want to be.

Yeah I agree.

Curious observation...it doesn't strike anyone as odd that we segregate men's and woman's locker rooms though. The fact that women don't want men ogling them in their locker room is considered totally normal. Not sure how to rationalize that.

Right...would these same people care if some hot chick was in the locker room checking him out?

So if there were lesbians in the locker room would they just get bored and leave?

I don't care either way. But gay players will have to expect some discrimination.

I feel it's no one else place to tell anyone how to live their lives. People can be who they want to be and no one, I mean no one, has a right to tell them they can't. Those who are against homosexuality can disapprove of that lifestyle all they want, but it's senseless and pointless to disapprove because at the end of the day they really are powerless to change it. If someone is gay, lesbian, transgender, likes transsexuals or whatever, why get upset about it? You have to live your own life and they have to live their own life. As human beings, we have to learn to respect people.

Here's the way I see it. The locker room is not a place for PC, and us testosterone filled guys together tend to not be the most sensitive collection of people. So, if a gay guy is OK with dealing with that fact, then I see no problem. Once I think he starts complaining about it, I think it upsets the locker room.

I think this is a great post, although i do think you need to allow for the possibility that someone can disapprove of something, but not feel the need to try to impose his/her opinion on others.

There are things people do that i disapprove of. I'm sure there are things that I do that others disapprove of. But i'm not going to go and tell someone they dont have the right to do something, and i'd expect them to show me the same courtesy.

Re: Gays in the NFL. How Do You Really Feel?

It's their own choice. Choices have consequences. If they just show up to work and don't advertise to get attention for being gay, it won't cause any problems with the team. If they can't keep it on the back burner, they're just asking for issues both in the locker room and on the employment front, not because they're gay specifically, but because they can cause distractions. A lot of teams try to avoid players with personality problems or legal issues because of the affect it could have on the team. Mike Vick is a prime example. Some teams do not want a media circus and a controversial issue splitting the team in half. This is no different.

And before someone decides to accuse me of something I'm NOT saying...I am not equating homosexuality to crime, but the media's attention if a player were to "come out would have absolutely no benefit on the team and would probably have negative effects on the player's career.

I'm sure there are a few gay players, but if they want to just play football without it being an issue or causing them problems, they keep it to themselves. It's the same scenario with gays in the military. In the end, the men will stick together and not care about it when in the heat of battle, but at other times, it can make some men uncomfortable and that slight lapse in focus could be dealy in in war, or in football could just hurt the team.

How so if there are numerous examples of homosexual behavior in the animal world?

Parks 'n Rec is a great show. Also this thread has completely gone off topic from the NFL

I hate that argument. It seems to be equating actual human beings with animals.

Animals will act like animals. If they want sex, they'll take it where they can find it. This is why your dog humps your leg.

I'm not a fan of the choice of homosexuality by any means, but don't degrade them by comparing them to animals who don't have the brain capacity to make decisions like humans, they act on instincts.

You're not going to see flamboyant frogs or crossdressing crocodiles in nature. Many gays do choose to have a different lifestyle in terms of sex, they way they dress, behave, and generally live life. But, unlike the animals you cite, they have the brain capacity to know what they're doing.
