| Field Goals Yes or No? Not sure if there is a similar thread I searched and could not find one. But should football eliminate field goals and extra points? - Still Have Kickoffs and Punts (hopefully move them back to the 30) - Teams go for two after every touchdown. Interesting argument by Skip Bayless Bayless on let's get rid of field goals in the NFL - ESPN |

| Re: Field Goals Yes or No? Field goal hits and misses have created some of the greatest moments in the NFL. Skip Bayless is an idiot.

| Re: Field Goals Yes or No? I don't see the question here. Field goals are here to stay and Bayless is a fool. All of this is known already.

| Re: Field Goals Yes or No? While it seems like xtra points and field goals are sure things for today's kickers whenever they miss it seems like the team is chasing those lost points the rest of the game and impacts how they manage the game. No way should FGs and XPs be done away with. |

| Re: Field Goals Yes or No? It's part of the game. That's why we keep it. It's no more lunacy or just plain arbitrary than deciding offenses get 4 downs instead of 3 to get a first down. Or that TDs are worth 6 points. You fiddle with the little things in sports to make the whole product better. You don't eliminate an entire aspect of the game because the players involved get paid less or look less athletic. God what dolt. It's stuff like this that makes you really think Bayless really is a genuinely stupid person and ESPN is even stupider for allowing him to grace their airwaves. I know of NO ONE who likes this guy and don't see how he adds any value to ESPN's product. You know what should be changed in sports? Skip Bayless' employment situation. |

| Re: Field Goals Yes or No? I won't comment on the Skip/ESPN aspect of it (though clearly if someone else had written this the response would likely be different) That said I don't think field goals should be eliminated. Nor do I necessarily agree with Bill Belichick's assertion that we should eliminate extra points But they're not the first and won't be the last to suggest this

| Re: Field Goals Yes or No? I understand the point of wanting more TDs than field goals, but field goals are far too important in the game. I would actually like to see field goals beyond 55 yards worth more than 3 points. Maybe 5 points.
