| Re: I can't wait to hear the other side... Jesus christ you guys turn into a pack of vicious dogs quick. Let's count the number of wins last season. Coles 6, Gibbs 6. Games lost because of Coles? 0. Games lost because of Gibbs playcalling 5+. |

| Re: I can't wait to hear the other side... FRPLG - I don't think his "stats" bother him. He didn't go down field, he's a receiver, he likes to catch the ball. He likes to make the big play. Not for himself, but for the TEAM! Because he wants to be in an offense that gives him a shot at what he does best (stretch the field and get YAC) doesn't mean he's selfish. |

| Re: I can't wait to hear the other side... "This wasn't what I signed up for." Ok, if your boss who does things the way you prefer QUITS and the new one does things differently, are you going to request a transfer? If so, will they give it to you if it costs the company 3 times your annual salary to do it? I don't think so. F*ck him and his one TD. |

| Re: I can't wait to hear the other side... Daseal... He is getting PAID to play FOR the Redskins. He caught 90 balls. he played WITH Brunell so he knows how BAD he was. He also knows that Gibbs didn't think Ramsey was ready. A professional in that situation would say "Hey, we're going through a rough patch but we have HoF coach with 3 Superbowl rings who has proven in the past that he likes to go downfield. I have an injured toe keeping me from being explosive. I think maybe I'll listen to my coach and trust that he knows what he is doing for the long term success of this team". Did he do this? No he bitched and moaned behind the scenes and caused who knows what type of locker room issues and then blows our cap up without any remorse. He is a punk bitch period. I never post like this. That shows how strongly I feel about this. |

| Re: I can't wait to hear the other side... "If you want to know how badly Coles and the Redskins needed a divorce, consider this: Redskins owner Daniel Snyder threatened Coles when the receiver's refusal to accept the trade without a contract extension thwarted the deal last month. "He said that if I stayed in Washington, he would turn me into another Terry Glenn," Coles said. (Glenn, now with the Cowboys, missed most of the 2001 season with New England as his public feud with head coach Bill Belichick resulted in various fines, suspensions and ultimately Glenn's benching). "He said he would send a flat-screen television to my home because I'd be better off watching the games there. That was his way of saying I'd be sitting for the next couple years until they cut me." God I wish Snyder just did that. That would have been the most bad-ass thing ever.

You think Coles feels like he has time for longterm success? Probably not - careers are short. FRPLG, please, tell me. When was the last time the skins made the playoffs? Everyone acts like we're on the brink of Super Bowl when we have yet to see anything. I saw very little progression in playcalling last year, and as of now I don't have faith that we're going to have an offense that can produce 21 points a game next year. Until I see something that tells me otherwise, I will keep this assumption. Yeah - Gibbs has 3 rings. Good job - he did a great job back then. I have yet to do him those fabled halftime adjustments, or pull a game out in this era. He gets up by 7 in the first half and tries to run the clock out. You can't do that anymore. You need to be ruthless and put up points. I think Coles is a bit closer to the situation than any of us. You don't think it says SOMETHING about the playcalling when both starting WRs want to get a ticket out of town? You think that doesn't spell more losses for next year? I'm guessing they've heard next years plan -- and they don't like it. Coles came here under Spurrier. The fun and gun. The same coach that QB Patrick Ramsey, Coles, and other players weren't shy to say they wanted to stick around for another year. They thought he had it. It's hypothetical, but Spurrier put up points. His biggest downfall was being too stubborn about changing his assistants. If he would have hired D coordinator, D line coach, and O line coach of the Redskins now - I think we could have easily made the playoffs last year, especially in a pathetic NFC. Coles came here THINKING he was going to be the goto receiver that would get a lot of catches, deep balls, and be the threat everyone knew he could be at Florida state. Gibbs comes in, handcuffs his routes, and called some across the middle that about got him killed (thanks to inaccurate QBing too!) I can perfectly understand why he wanted out. He didn't go through the media and complained. He tried to keep it between the skins, himself, and his agent. The media got ahold of the leaked information and all of a sudden people turn on him. I don't see Coles as a "bad guy" for wanting out of DC. He also said if he weren't traded/released he'd play his best next year too. I believe that because he's not the Arrington type to have a greivance and maybe sit out when you don't have to (which I think if he had that 6.5 mil he woulda played a bit more, just my personal view.) He's not a bad guy, he just feels he was being used incorrectly, doesn't feel the coach believed in him, and didn't feel like he was being used correctly. I don't see that as selfish so much. I don't think that if the team were winning he'd care. Simple fact of the matter is we weren't winning and didn't try anything new to change it. Why not try to put the ball in the hands of one of our best playmakers? Remember - these guys probably grew up elsewhere loving other teams besides the Redskins. It's hard for us to imagine why they want out because many of them didn't grow up Washington fans. Hell, Springs grew up a Cowboys fan! They don't have the loyalty we have and I can completely understand why he wants out. I would have been embarrassed playing in that offense last year. | |

| Re: I can't wait to hear the other side... This is all about the toe injury. It has been from the beginning. Coles was/is in denial that he can still do what he did before it. Gibbs saw how he performed and used him how he determined was best. Obviously they disagreed. Also, Coles said he "didn't sign up for" Gibbs run-oriented offense. Well, the Redskins did not "sign up for" a receiver with a bad toe that can only perform at about 80%. I have no sympathy for this guy. |

| Re: I can't wait to hear the other side... He may not have signed up for a run-oriented offense, but he did sign up for a $13 million signing bonus - which he received in full. As for whether he was being selfish or not, let's look at the quote again. "People say we're leaving now because we're selfish, but how are you supposed to be happy as a receiver when you go from a passing offense to a running offense? This wasn't what I signed up for." I think Costanza and Seinfeld spelled it out best. George: "Why can't there be some things just for me? Is that so selfish?" Jerry: "Actually, that's the definition of selfish."

| Re: I can't wait to hear the other side... Coles is coming across as a whiny little b*tch.. "I didn't sign up for this"? If you are getting paid MILLIONS to play football, you are to do what the coach tells you to do. Hell, if you are in Pop Warner and the coach tells you to do something, you do it. If the coach wants to run 45 times and you are expected to block, BLOCK! I haven't seen any NFL contracts but I highly doubt that in Coles contract it says "downfield threat" "vertical receiver" or "passes over 15 yards receiver". He is paid to play the game. Chris Samuels didn't like Spurrier's BS protection schemes but you didn't see him asking to be released. Ramsey didn't "sign up" for getting his dick knocked into the dirt for 2 years under Spurrier and then have to take the job from aincient Mark Brunell, but he still showed up to work every day and didn't ask to be released. From a credibility angle, let's see, Gibbs, devout Christian, Hall of Famer, leader of winning Super Bowl teams and NASCAR teams, universally respected throughout the sports world.. Coles, thrown out of FSU and off the team, won't acknoledge FSU because he feels like they treated him badly (sound familiar?), took shots at the Jets when he was signed by the Redskins, 90 catches (3rd in the NFL I beleive) and feels underutilized.. Hmm, advantage Gibbs. BTW, Gardner always seemed like he was unhappy anyway, I never heard or saw of him being a positive influence at all. As quick as some of us were to praise Gibbs and think he would automatically put us back on the playoff map, some of us are ready to write him off after one year because Coles and Gardner were unhappy. If Gibbs didn't acknowledge that the offense didn't work almost IMMEDIATELY after the season I would be a bit more critical, but geez, give the guy an ounce of credit for knowing what he is doing.. |
