Needed to stay within confidnes of what works with everyone; needed to put other players plans into thought. Couldnt pay someone more than someone else in a similar postion (Springs??)

| Re: Coach Gibbs press conference live @ 12pm basically going to say that they cost too much and would have hurt the team in other places, and that he didnt want to pay more for smoot than springs, because it'd set a precedent to overpay springs or whoever else further down the road.

| Re: Coach Gibbs press conference live @ 12pm In this situation; they had 14 FA's. They gave the players a choice; and they went after guys. Thinks were all set with Ray Brown. Were successful with 14 guys and lost two guys (Perice/Smoot)
