Negativity sells. Pure fact of the matter.

Re: Do You Unequivocally Believe RG3 Is Our Franchise QB?

With the caveat that Griffin left some plays on the field -- None more painful than the painful fourth down conversion -- I thought Griffin was pretty good at Philly. I liked his decisiveness and quick decision making, and thought his knee looked really explosive for the first time since last season. The extra gear was there.

He showed an agressiveness and an ability to extend plays and give receivers a chance to make the plays to bring the Redskins back down 24 in the fourth quarter.

He's still a mechanical mess, but part of the problem is there is no sense of timing with him and his receivers, particularly once Hankerson and Reed were out. He double clutches a lot part because he's working with subpar teammates and part because he simply hasn't repped the passing plays enough to understand where the holes in the coverage will be.

Griffin has the skill necessary to create space to throw the ball, but the problem is that his internal clock is a bit fast at times (sometimes slow at others) and he is not always creating space to throw. Sometimes he is just speeding up his motion (try's to set his feet and throw at the same time) to get the ball out, and that's when he drops his elbow and the ball sails on him.

He's better from the muddied pocket than he was at this time last year, but the mechanical flaws he showed last season are still not fixed (which the coaches share blame for), and he's picked up a few bad habits (which is as much about the lacking talent around him as anything).

It may take multiple years to get Griffin to a point where he's not leaving plays on the field. I don't think he's close to resolving that. But as far as the big plays that powered last years offense returning...I think we're close to seeing that.

I disagree that he looked good, especially the first three quarters. However, I totally agree that his mechanics are a mess, and I attribute much of that to the terrible interior blocking by his O-line. Until that is improved, it will be difficult for Griffin to consistently make throws on rhythm with solid mechanics.

I would agree with most of this. I think your point of chemistry/timing with WR is evident, especially as the season has plodded along. Moss and Morgan are easy covers. Mechanics need work for sure. But my biggest gripe to be more specific than "just leaving plays on the field" is his vision of the field. Its still lacking.

Watching film is fine but there no substitute for actual reps and building muscle memory. RG3 needed reps last offseason and he didnt get them. Hopefully he gets out of this season healthy and gets those reps.
Griffin has shown that he can plant on the forward foot and throw so doing it isn't a injury issue at this point. It is a mental error that he should not be making period. No excuse for poor mechanics when you show on one play you have good mechanics and the next one you don't. Sorry no excuses on this one. It is all on RG# not doing the simple things correct. What he can improve on is both mechanics and timing. Again all on him.

Yea one more weapon and a defense will make RG3 spectacular. :say what:

I do believe he can play much better but the fault does not lie elsewhere. Step up and plant and throw before the break and we are almost there.

Not many QBs can play at a high level under constant pressure from rushing defenders, as RG's faced.

RG deserves a legit oline and at least another weapon downfield before we start doubting his future.
