Re: Duke Ihenacho claimed by Redskins

I was watching the Dallas-Denver preseason game Ihenacho was thumping the Cowgirls. I'm excited to have him here in DC.

By the way just wanted to note, it's not often a waiver pickup helps in the NFL but this could be the exception.

I agree. He's a solid SS and he is also very good on ST. The Broncos were just very rich in SS's.

He's our kind of player in that he plays with passion, which I think is about to become our team's identity under Jay Gruden.

I recall our game in Denver last year and hearing this guy's name several times. At worst he improves our depth, if he can be a solid starter that's just all gravy.

Sure its been tough. My general feeling is with our starters and depth is the safety position is in the best shape in a long time. That's not saying much but if we can get average to above average play its gonna be a huge help to the defense.

Brandon Merriweather: I am worried about the safety position in Weeks 1 and 2.

Duke Ihenacho: It's nacho problem.

Re: Duke Ihenacho claimed by Redskins

I think it's a fantastic pickup and it's really nice the Redskins were able to make this move. This is the kind of savvy move the Pats, Broncos, or Packers make so it's nice it was us. It would have been tough for us to get worse in the secondary so a solid, young player who can at least give us depth if not be an outright starter is a heckuva move.

For once Russel is a little right, Duke does struggle in coverage. At least Duke will put people on the ground. We have few options.
