Of course Taylor is innocent until proven guilty, BUT the fact that his name is involved in this just isn't good. I hope and pray it's a mixup or he was an innocent party here, but as we've seen in the past with him, where there's smoke there's usually fire.

There usually is fire where there is smoke Matty, but he hasn't even been arrested or charged with a crime. The circumstances are so shady right now that I think it's premature to comment on the situation other than to say, "It's not good that his name is involved." I can agree with that, but I can't agree with notions that we should crucify him.

If the police had a lot of evidence (i.e. several eyewitness statements) that he had fired the weapon, there would be an arrest warrant. That a warrant hasn't been issued indicates that there isn't such evidence.

As far as assumming Taylor's innocence or guilt, he just basically has to grow up and be a man instead of a highly paid little kid. Someone will set him straight, could be his father, grandmother, Portis or maybe even Winslow. But this crap has got to end sooner or later. The crap that the Redskins did a extensive backround check is BS. The wrath of the fans on gameday will also take its toll on him, he just has no clue.

The bottom line is that this guy wasn't where he should have been.
His physical gifts don't make up for his bad attitude and lack of good judgement.

You're almost certainly correct. However, there's a chance it was simply a "wrong place, wrong time" sort of incident. I'm sure just about everyone here have been in shady places with shady characters before. Moreover, many NFL football players come from poor neighborhoods where crime is rampant and "bad peeps" are everywhere; you don't find crime and criminals, they find you.

I don't know where exactly Taylor is from - perhaps he's from a very upscale, low-crime neighborhood. But, I can't say he exercised poor judgment. I don't know where he's from, who (if anyone) he was with, his relationship to the shooter, under what circumstances the shots were fired, or anything really.

All we know is the police want to question him about a shooting. It sounds bad and it could be very bad, but right now, we just don't know squat.

No one get me wrong, it is highly possible that Taylor was being a bonehead.
However, I'd hate to blame him for something that he had no significant involvement with.

I can't blame people for wanting to be around the people they grew up with. The very cautious (and some would say intelligent) players (i.e. Arrington) stop going to clubs and hanging out in their old neighborhoods with their old friends once they become famous football players.

Antonio Pierce is from SC LA and he goes back there all the time. I'm sure he's not constantly surrounded by the most upstanding citizens 24-7. Moreover, I'm not sure that I would stop hanging out with old friends in old dive bars etc. if I became a famous football player. If I came from a rough neighborhood or had good (but dumb) friends, I don't think I would simply turn my back on them once I "made it."

I'm pretty sure the "bad peeps" aren't allowed in the Redskins weight room, which is where he should have been... not in Miami with his friends from The U. If he's in DC working out with his teammates, he's likely not putting himself in the position where he's a person of interest.
