| Hurricanes Headed My Way And I Need Your Prayers I'm stuck in Houston,cant get out,the freeways are bumper to bumper in every direction,4 hr wait to go 2 miles,theres no gas anywhere,a lot of people on the side of the road out of gas with none coming,I might get lucky and not get the brunt of the storm,theyre expecting 75 mph winds with maybe gust up to 100,my Mom lives in Bridge City,which is outside of Beaumont where they think the eye is going to pass over,pretty sure her house will be under water and its never flooded there before.I dont mind telling you ,I'm scared of what could happen,Ive already been through it once with Hurricane Agnes ,when I lived in Manassas our house was totally flooded,once is enough |

| Re: Hurricanes Headed My Way And I Need Your Prayers May God keep you and your family safe. You need to prepare in the following way. Make sure that you are in a solid concrete structure and not in a mobile or prefabbed home. Make sure that you have bottled water for a week and canned food for a week. It is possible that cell phones and landlines will go down and you will lose all means of contacing the outside world. Tell someone in Dallas or outside of Houston where you are so that they can tell the government where you are. make sure you have a manual can opener. Think about what you would need to survive for a week with no electricty. Finally, find the Chabad Rabbi of Houston--look on line for the nearest Chabad house and call them and get there--even by walking with your mom for Friday night. You will end up becoming part of the search and rescue operation instead of being a victim. |

I grew up there and have alot of friends and family there. I hope and pray the damage is minimal. Be smart and prepare and (I know there are very few underground places in bridge city, but try to find somewhere safe. You're pretty close to pleasure Island and Bridge city will flood. |
