| NFL uncapped -- Good or bad in your eyes? Hey Guys, As many of you know the owners are very well thinking about opting out of the current CBA. This will mean the NFL in either 2010 or 2011 will become uncapped. Upshaw has said, and it makes complete since from the NFL PA's perspective, that if the cap goes away it will never come back. I'm a little torn on this issue. On one hand, trades will be possible in the NFL once again, and having multiple great players won't handcuff you because of their salary. The #1 pick in the draft again becomes an asset rather than a burden, and you can keep those players you love but just can't justify their salary against the cap right now. On the other hand, it will kill parity in the league. Small market / cheap owners will put out a subpar product due to not having the cash or simply unwilling to spend it (right now teams must spend at least 85% of their cap), and it will crush the competitive balance. Teams like Washington, Dallas, New York, etc will be able to get anything and everything they want because of seemingly endless income, while small market teams like Green Bay and Buffalo really can't compete. Where do you stand on the uncapped year? Good or bad for the NFL?

| Re: NFL uncapped -- Good or bad in your eyes? All this will do is make football end up like baseball, with the Cowboys and Redskins taking the part of the Yankees. On the other hand, maybe Dan Snyder will FINALLY be able to afford and pay all those players he wants. LOL

| Re: NFL uncapped -- Good or bad in your eyes? Bad. Very bad. Horrible. As you said it will kill the smaller market teams. I'd hate to see the NFL turn into MLB. Personally I don't think we'll see it happen though. The NFL has done a great job at maintaining labor peace since 1987. |

| Re: NFL uncapped -- Good or bad in your eyes? For the NFL overall I think it would be bad. In our little corner of the world though, in the NFC East, it would be fine. The Cowboys, Giants, Redskins, and Eagles are all large market teams and would be capable of competing with one another financially. The division would be a perennial powerhouse and constantly very competitive. But the division could be a perennial powerhouse under a salary cap too. It's a horrible thing for the NFL overall, IMO.

| Re: NFL uncapped -- Good or bad in your eyes? This would be the end of football as America's most watched game. The league will go back to having dynasties made by revenue and not solid GM moves and player/coach production. There would not longer be any mystery behind who will make it to the dance or playoffs, because, as we saw before the salary cap in the NFL, there will be perennial playoff teams every year and the competition that has made the NFL so great the last few years will eventually dissipate. Those who neglect their history are doomed to repeat it. Someone put that on a t-shirt and send it to Goddell and Dan Snyder.

| Re: NFL uncapped -- Good or bad in your eyes? It will be bad, very bad for football as we know it. It will destroy the competetive balance and small market venues will suffer. It will defeat the origional purpose of the cap implementation and will become a league where only the strong survive. Not Good...

Well, if this happens, Denny Green wont be able to say that anymore. And that would make me sad. Green is a riot.

| Re: NFL uncapped -- Good or bad in your eyes? Guys when it comes to the Skins I don't care about anything but us. I'm EXTREMELY greedy and I'm happy to admit it. I feel sick every time we lose and when we win I can't help but smile. I don't care about the Bills or Packers I care about the Skins. That being said if this does happen we are going to DOMINATE. Danny and the front office haven't exactly done the best job with getting the right players and the cap. But now it will come down to is he willing to spend the money? We all know what the answer to that is! So lets be the Yankees or Sox (2000 era) of the the NFL. I'm all for no cap. |

| Re: NFL uncapped -- Good or bad in your eyes? Well, I know Jerry Jones has said he's opting out -- wouldn't be surprised if Snyder did too. They do have some gripes, they're sending their money to small market teams, etc. Definitely be interesting to see how it plays out.

| Re: NFL uncapped -- Good or bad in your eyes? As a Redskin fan, i love it we have a owner that would buy everything and we would win at least 10 superbowls, as a NFL fan, no the salary cap must stay to ensure equality among all teams big & small market (but allow me to dream for a minute owner who loves to spend money on players, at least 10 SB) |

Obv. But either way, Baseball has become a circus. You can't hear the words "Major League Baseball" without hearing "steriods" "Clemens" or "Bonds" in the same sentence anymore. It's sickening. I mean, it's not like I really like the game that much in the first place. I also think it's insulting that it's STILL "Americas Favorite Pastime" even though we all know damn good and well it's the NFL and not the MLB. I say, take down the MLB and add 10 more teams to the NFL. lol
