Re: Brunell's contract voided

Just heard over the radio that Cerrato says they're going to look in the draft for a 3rd string qb. Brunell's career is over in DC. Are we going to have a Mark Brunell good bye thread?

Looks like our old friend might find work: Per ESPN Rumors

Brunell to the Packers?

Mark Brunell | Redskins | Interested: Packers?
Looking for a veteran presence to back up newly annointed starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Packers have expressed interest in Brunell, according to The Washington Times.
Brunell began his career in Green Bay as one of Brett Favre's backups in 1993. The 37-year-old free agent has spent the last four seasons in Washington, where he started 33 games from 2004 to 2006. "There are five teams [including the Packers] that have expressed a potential interest in signing Mark," said Brunell's agent, Bruce Tollner. "[They] know he has great experience, an ability to step in and win games and would be excellent in supporting their starter."

Three Teams Eye Brunell

Jasno phones in this nugget as he drives home from the Comcast studio:
Mark Brunell is drawing interest from Atlanta, Green Bay and New Orleans, league sources said. The Redskins' former starter began his career in Green Bay, where Brett Favre just retired and Aaron Rogers will step up; is close to Bill Musgrave, the Falcons' quarterbacks coach; and is scheduled to visit New Orleans early next week, according to sources. The Redskins did not want to bring Brunell, 37, back to be the third quarterback behind Jason Campbell and Todd Collins and would like to find a third-stringer in the later round of the April draft.

It makes sense. I don't see any reason to have backups who are over 35 years old. It just makes no sense to me to bring Brunell back.
