Turns out, it was all B.S. RGIII did NOT have to have his brace covered. Mystery solved.
NFL says Griffin didn't have to cover brace | Comcast SportsNet Washington
Griffin was asked why he made the change after the game. “Everybody in the league kept calling down to our sideline saying I needed to cover the brace up,” Griffin said. “I don’t understand that one.
Apparently the NFL didn’t understand it either. According to a league spokesman, Griffin being told to cover up the knee brace was a “miscommunication”.
The spokesman clarified the policy, saying that players have the option of wearing knee braces either inside or outside of the uniform pants.
“But that’s why we had to continue to do some stuff to cover the brace up with my sock. It was the same brace,” said Griffin. It just looked bigger because they kept putting stuff over it.”
As it turns out of that was unnecessary. But being told to do it didn’t surprise Griffin.
“Man, I don’t know what the league’s doing,” Griffin said. “I got fined 10 grand for a shirt. I mean, I don’t know.”
