I think starting Cousins is a win-win situation.
RG3 is not 100% so no reason to risk injury now, he is the franchise regardless of what anybody thinks. That's what three #1s dictate.
Cousins could use the experience.
RG3 needs to sit and watch. I think he should share a little blame in this giant mess and I hope sitting him humbles him a bit. It would be great if Cousins ran the offense better than RG3 so he can realize he still needs a lot of work and his athleticism is only a small part of playing QB.
No matter what happens, Shanahan is going to spin it in his favor.
If cousins does great, he will say RG3 was forced on him.
If cousins sucks, he will say they don't have the personnel to run his offense.
I only hope the backup linemen get a chance to play too.
Can't wait for the next chapter...

Idk, I feel like benching RG3 would be a bad idea. There's plenty to lose by starting Kirk Cousins. What if he plays terribly and destroys his trade value? What if he gets injured and all his potential suitors take offers off the table? What if the highly unlikely scenario plays out where he plays elite and then there's a qb controversy next year? There's too many scenarios where this doesn't work for me. Kevin Kolb played 3 games as a starter for the Eagles before they bilked the Cards out of a starter and a 2nd round pick. It just seems like the bench RG3 crowd (which I'm not including you in because the other people have been a lot more vocal about) doesn't look at all the scenarios that could happen if RG3 is benched.
