Re: Feels like doom
I would say yes, it's doom, but hasn't it been that way for two decades now basically? I mean it's the Redskins, this organization is no longer synonymous with winning, integrity, hard work and honor. Quite the opposite. Money, marketing, arrogance, stupidity, drama...can go on and on.
The franchise is doomed and it's not going to get better anytime soon. The arrogance and stupidity starts at the top of course, then throw in a dysfunctional relationship with a has-been head coach (one playoff win in fourteen seasons) his coordinator son that hasn't done anything except tick off everybody in the organization. A young, arrogant QB who wants everything his own way and can't handle adversity. Multiple players that are just picking up paychecks and could care less if they're there or not next season. Again, could go on for a while with this.
Nothing is going to change anytime soon, not under this owner and not if any of the current coaches are brought back. The fans are ticked off and not going to the games. (Watch how many Dallas fans will take over the stadium Sunday) TV ratings are in the dumps. The coaching situation is a comical mess and there is a soap opera drama going on with the owner/coach/star QB. Trades? Free agents? Salary cap? Anyone who thinks the dozen-plus holes on this team are going to be filled this offseason is still chugging the kool-aid.
I mean when has this franchise drafted well or spent money well? Sure there are some occasional hits but 90% of this teams "building" over the last 20 years have been a colossal misfire. People think 18 million will fix this mess? There are teams out there that will have 30, 40 50 million to spend, plus a full slate of draft picks. Teams that are a lot closer to contending than this train wreck. Why do people think good players are going to rush to jump on this dumpster fire?
Doomed is right, but it's really been that way a long time. It's just gone from sad to comically embarrassing, especially for a franchise with the tradition and history this one has. Can anyone see this happening in New York, Chicago, Green Bay, etc?
Sad.
