I personally dont see the big deal with it. The PAT affects a game in a meaningful way once every 4 or 5 years. A couple of games here and there have been lost due to a missed PAT, but not enough to matter imo.

Although I dont buy Goodells reasoning. I dont believe its about exciting plays so much as its about extra commercial time. Add one commercial per TD scored.
Run an offense play from the 2 or 5 giving a different point value for each. Not a kick play.
