Sure, there's a degree of how many people those crimes effect but they're still crimes and the league probably is within its rights to suspend and try to control their employees as they wish. The game has to be kept somewhat family-friendly as much as possible to remain profitable. Take a look at the NBA, who has far less of a grasp on its players' behavior than the NFL.

I know the pot fanatics think it's all innocent and harmless, but at this point it's still a primarily illegal activity no matter how many people want to change the law.
You sound like a middle aged person with that attitude toward pot. Even worse you tossed Fred Davis in with rapists and wife beaters. I see you are
in your 30's and I am the middle aged one. Pot is way less dangerous than alcohol whether illegal or not For the record I do not smoke, but believe it
should be legal everywhere in the USA for people 18 and over. I have known
quite a few regular pot smokers, they have never caused a problem while
stoned, most won't even drive while high, they just chill out. On the other hand I knew plenty of people who grew "beer muscles" when drinking, picked
fights, drove too fast, crashed cars, etc, etc. I have known many a falling down drunk that was so proud they didn't smoke pot. If you are so big on calling pot illegal so is driving over the speed limit, have you ever done that?
