I think it is far too early to tell whether or not this is a good choice. It follows the NFL pattern of hiring people you know, something the Redskins — and every other team — do regularly. What I will say is that sometimes recycling the big names does not work out. It certainly has not worked out for the Skins in the past. Hiring a newer guy, one with plenty of experience, but not enough success to be fat and happy, can work out, too.

I make no bones about it - I wanted Phillips. As a DC, and IMHO, the guy had the best resume out there - including Ryan. I am disappointed b/c it appears he won't be the DC.
