A few points.
1st, clearly very few teams see the draft the same. This anon GM may/may not have a minority opinion as it regards the number of "1st round" prospects.
2nd, at the end of the day the draft remains a crap shoot the true answer is to have more rolls of the dice not less. Therefore trading up for a specific player is usually an ineffective proposition in the long term team building perspective. I don't think having fewer perceived 1st round prospects will spurn more teams to chase perceived value. Player 20-32 don't suddenly become inferior prospects because of perception of grades.
3rd, if there are so few ' true' 1st round prospects then why would those 19 teams want to trade down?
Its an interesting theory that more trades will happen then usual but I disagree and I also disagree with the anon GM's notion of there only being "19 " 1st round prospects.
