Re: Baltimore riots

a lot of admiration for the BCPD for their restraint, for their seemingly true interest in dialogue with the community, for their willingness to stand there at times and take verbal abuse/complaints.

a lot of admiration for the people in druid hill and surrounding areas. to come out the next day and reclaim your neighborhood. to do volunteer clean up. to make yesterday a positive community vibe. people were grilling hot dogs, doing drum circles, dance groups were brought in.

a lot of admiration for the local community leaders. its seems they have truly tried to reject the outside forces of shabaz malik and even al sharton. the local leaders really played a large role in getting out the right message.

of course, we await the announcement of charges or no charges. then things may get very ugly.

but for right now, for yesterday, baltimore as a community responded.
