I agree that his performance on the field is what counts but I also think that he's making it harder for himself by making public statements that can be taken out of context by the media to make unflattering headlines and create controversy. That's why I think it's important for him to watch what he says in public.
In the short term, what if he has a poor game against Detroit tonight? If he does, the media will eat him alive, even though they created the controversy to begin with!
