And keep in mind, while I get your point that Cousins's deal would have a smaller cap hit in the early seasons, it would get exponentially larger in the later seasons.

Let's say he gets 5 years $87.5M ($17.5M per season on avg). Cap hit might be only $12M this year, but could be upwards of $20M by 2019. Have to allow for that to happen in your planning.

I have no problem sniffing on Mack for a short term deal but I don't like getting anybody under contract for any significant amount of money for any year when they'll be 30 or older.
