after the hit it touched the ground before the roll, when the defender's helmet was touching the ground, the ball was right next to it. if you don't have control at that point or the ground causes a bounce, i think they'd say it's not a catch.

i thought it was a catch too, but i can see why someone might say otherwise. in the context of that game, i'm not sure it'd really matter though. denver's D showed up looking to stomp face and that was pretty much that.
