Reed on Tuesday went for another checkup with an independent doctor and received permission to begin practicing in a limited capacity. The Redskins will not know until later this week about Reed’s availability for Sunday’s game at Detroit.
Meanwhile, rookie inside linebacker Su’a Cravens, who missed Sunday’s game with a concussion of his own, also practiced on Wednesday. But Cravens didn’t wear a noncontact jersey. He practiced in a limited role last week, but didn’t receive clearance to play.
Tight end Derek Carrier has spent all of the season on the physically-unable-to-perform list, but now is allowed to begin practicing in hopes of being activated to the 53-man roster. However, on Wednesday, Carrier worked on a side field, running routes and catching passes from a member of the Redskins’ training staff, as he has for many days in recent weeks.

News is better than I expected for the first day of practice. Would love to see Cravens this week. I didnt even know we retained Carrier this year. Why him over Paulson?
