Personally, I think either Kirk may be unrealistically betting on himself and/or wants an unreasonable amount of money to be throwing away the security of a long term deal? Once you have a player who does not value the security of a long term deal, it is difficult for the team to come to some compromise with the player/agent.

Or maybe, just maybe he wants out!!!! Wasn't he on record saying if Allen was retained he was walking? Do you really want to work for a guy you despise? I would think that the feelings are mutual and this is just a gentleman's agreement of Kirk going away, but with some nice $$$$$$$$. The team management is awful, so why stay!!!!!The good thing about this is Kirk has to play lights out to get the deal he wants, so at least we will enjoy one more decent season before he leaves, then it is going to be back to the drawing board.
