Yeah I'm with you. We've seen improvements. But I don't want us to think that improvement is good enough.
Kerrigan can be a part of a very good front 7. But if he's your best and most consistent pass rush threat, then your ceiling as a pass rush is mediocrity. He gets stymied by the top tackles.
There's more than one way to skin the cat right? You can have a Von Miller or a Khalil Mack who just dominates all the damn time, and they can carry mediocre pass rushers elsewhere along the line. Or you can be like the Eagles and have players who are as disruptive at Kerrigan at all four spots. So that when one gets stymied, another is usually making a play. It's more consistent.
Our pass rush right now is basically Kerrigan gets home or nothing.
Kerrigan can play in a dominant pass rush. I think J Allen can. Ioannidis is good for nickel situations. But we really, really need somebody else to improve from the edge.
In retrospect, the better free agent move would have been springing for Calais Campbell instead of McClain and McGee. Sometimes the single game changer is what you need.
