I keep hearing this, but the 49ers were willing to give up a second for Garoppolo with, what, six games left on his contract? Do you really think he has greater value than Cousins?
Now, they may not have known he'd demand a high contract after this season, but that's a ridiculous assumption. Why give up a second for a guy you thought might not do well? Why would you think you wouldn't have to pay him if he did play well?
