Of course if it is a really highly touted guy that falls mysteriously than go for it. But that don’t happen so often.

I completely agree with you on that.
The way I see it, BPA has to weigh in two ways: first you don't miss a potential All Pro
one of a kind playmaker, second if you want to fill a need with a player rated lower than others available and you think he could still be there a few spots down the draft, you
trade down and let need and BPA align (in a perfect world).
Again, instinctively, I've never been a fan of 100% BPA approach, since the draft still is quite a crapshoot.
