I liked Sharpe a WHOLE LOT better than I like Irvin. But the "skinny" is that Sharpe was extraordinarily difficult to work with and someone who did not get along with the other people on the set and the producers and the technical folks. In other words, he supposedly pissed EVERYBODY off.
So when his contract was up, they lowballed him on an offer (actually I hear they asked him to take a pay cut) and he took a walk. That's how we got to see Michael Irvin on a weekly basis.
