Or, allow each team to pay up to three players whatever they ask for and whatever the owner is willing to part with. Revenue sharing and the cap are the main reason the NFL is so successful. From what I've read they're fighting over relative scraps here. I don't think it would be the end of the world to have an uncapped year, but it definitely sets a bad precedent.
