Oh I'm not saying it's a bad thing in the modern NFL. Antonio Pierce was just the LB coach and by all accounts he's done a good job with the Raiders.
Just saying I remember when it was a bad thing when the HC had no coordinator experience. The times change - doesn't matter if you don't have coordinator experience as long as you have leadership qualities.
Also I'm slowly selling myself on Anthony Weaver as HC - apparently in 2022 he was the Ravens run game coordinator and d-line coach, then in 2023 he was assistant head coach/d-line coach. Former coordinator for the Texans before that. And as long as he's respected by the players and can identify quality coordinators/playcallers it's all good with me. I agree with Adam Peters - the HC doesn't need to be a primary playcaller/etc. - he needs to be the leader.
