The only time I ever "spoke" with DG was at two (free) autograph signings. He was polite but businesss like with everyone. I thanked him and he said, "No problem". His wife was in my high school class, but name-dropping would have been tacky to say the least.

I went to a free signing with Art Monk at some mall years ago. I figured he would be the same as DG considering his reputation for shyness. Not quite. While he was far from jolly like Theismann or Dexter, he was all smiles and looked to be enjoying himself. And he even laughed at a joke I cracked.

I know, hardly high level encounters. But it's all I got.
