This year several former students died. This happens from time to time but I feel like this year it was more than usual. It is one of the most difficult things I have ever had to experience.
Switching gears- Last fall I started to get this pain in my second toe after doing a Ragnar relay race. I thought no big deal it will go away it never did. In February I sucked it up and went to a podiatrist. I had a broken toe and it developed a bone spur and it was nerve pain as well as blistering my big toe, my options were a. wear a toe condom or b. get surgery but there is no guarantees the bone spur wouldn't return. I opted to wear a toe condom and did that for three months it felt and looked absurd. Wife told me she was not going out in public with me in flip flop season while wearing a toe condom. So now I am back to sucking it up but I have a race coming up in August so I can't get the surgery.
