Good article. Some of this is just common sense, any decent DC will make scheme adjustments in the offseason when he knows who he'll be facing next season. But I think the biggest factor in the offensive struggles has been pass pro, or rather scheming up/play calling to help it. Drops and fumbles haven't helped, but too many 3rd and long situations have relied on JD hanging in the pocket too long, dumping off or trying to force balls.
I haven't seen every play from Sunday, but from what I saw the Cowboys were targeting getting us into those downs, then sending more than could be blocked and nowhere for him to scramble. Where were the crossing routes that may not pick up 1st down but had a chance? Designed rollouts to give him options to run?
Feels like play calling has gotten a bit conservative, presumably to protect him. Is it me or do we need to get back to plays that allowed him to ad lib and use his athleticism to open up opportunities?
