Re: What does the price tag on...
I doubt he'll hit free agency. The 49ers are going to try to surround Alex Smith with enough talent to survive. Given their current roster, it's amazing that Smith isn't in a wheelchair right now. I would be highly perplexed if San Francisco decided to let Lloyd walk without having made him a decent offer (which we'll have to outbid).
Fortunately, IF he hits free agency and IF we decide to outbid other suitors, we likely will not have to break the bank. Last offseason, Plaxico Burress got a 6-year $25 million deal from the Giants with $8 million guaranteed money. Lloyd isn't considered nearly as talented as Burress, so I seriously doubt he is looking at anything more than a deal that averages $3.5 million per year with more than a $6 million in signing bonus.
But, the market often dictates salaries. So, my guess could be way off if lots of teams decide they need help at wideout. But, right now, I think my guess is close. A 5-year $17 million deal with $6 million in bonuses sounds right to me.
