In his 12-year NFL career, there wasn't much that Theismann, a native of New Brunswick, New Jersey, didn't deal with in some capacity. "I was hated as a quarterback and I was the odd-man out in a three-man quarterback rotation with Billy Kilmer and Sonny Jurgensen. They forged a friendship from their mutual dislike for me," he recalled. "It's true. I was not a favorite of the players or the fans because these guys were worshipped, and rightfully so, in the Washington area."
Theismann can also relate to starting at the bottom of the roster and working your way up, something many young players that star in college have to deal with on the pro level. "I started as a punt returner in the National Football League and was a third-string quarterback," Theismann remembered.
