big contracts are much more complex cause they're longer term and cause of all the bonuses, cap considerations, and CBA considerations. Self representation takes a lot of time and intelligence (TOO much for big deals, massive market research and analysis, researching the team's cap situation, finding other teams that might want you etc etc). With min deals you can get away with it cause its pretty cut and dry... no bonuses, no pro bowl incentives and the money is set by the league, so there's no guess work.

and agents get 3-10% of a contract, so one deal could easily make them over a million bucks, that's NOT chump change.
